Stop, Look and Listen

A Pathepicture in 6 reels (1927)

Directed by Larry Semon

Synopsis as available from the Library of Congress (many thanks to Rob Stone for providing the xeroxes!)

Luther Meek is the model young man of the town - he works industriously in his uncle's bank, never hangs out at the pool emporium, and has saved 3,000 dollars. He loves the school teacher, Dorothy, but she will not marry him until she has had her fling at a stage career. When she persists in teaching dancing to her pupils, the school board ousts her.

A musical comedy troupe is stranded in the town, and Luther's step-brother, Bill, suggests to its slick manager that he offer Dorothy the star part if Luther will finance the show. The scheme works, and the opera house is packed with local residents eager to see the town belle perform. While the show is on, Bill and the manager run off with the box-office receipts and also all the cash in the bank vault. Bill throws the blame on Luther, ad the town pursues the innocent young man while the guilty one make a get-away. However, Luther captures the thieves - and the heart of Dorothy!
