Welcome to Steve Rydzewski's

the magazine dedicated to the appreciation, documentation and preservation of early film comedy

Did you ever wonder who George Rowe was? Did you ever want to know more about lovely Alice Howell? Or are you dying to learn about that little cross-eyed guy Ben Turpin?

will help you find well-researched articles on the more obscure masters of silent film comedy written by such well-known experts as Bo Berglund, Steve Massa, Brent Walker and Jean-Jacques Couderc. Every publication comes along with a wealth of rare photographs and illustrations. You will read about what happened behind the scenes of those laughmakers of the silver screen, whose stars were once shining brightly and who so undeservedly fell into oblivion. Slapstick! will also update you on the latest findings in archives or private collections and supply you with a critical and precise filmography of the star who is featured on the cover. Now and then, Slapstick will include reprints of hard to find contemporary articles and scripts on films believed to be lost.

Slapstick! was launched in 1999 by Steve Rydzewski to preserve the memories of early film history before it is lost forever and make it available for a large circle of film buffs.

Slapstick! can be ordered from Steve Rydzewski. Please note: this is a non-profit mag and Steve will just ask you to reimburse him for his production and shipping costs.
